Taking its name from the river it lies alongside, the Ichamara Washing Station is based on the eastern slope of the Aberdares mountain range in the verdant Nyeri region. Over 1,100 farmers, one third of them women, have their coffee processed here. The average crop size for these farmers is around 250 trees spread over a roughly half-acre plot.
The water of its namesake is used in the processing of the coffees and benefits from the nutrients it picks up from its source in the nearby forests of Karima Hill. Fully ripe cherries are pulped, fermented, washed and dried slowly over 2- 3 weeks before delivery to the dry mill.
NOTE: We roast and package our coffee to order every Tuesday for postage the following Wednesday. To ensure we get your order in time, please place them before 5pm on Monday.
